Karen is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. She has a special interest in holistic health and in the use of nutrients and herbs to aid in health and healing. She began her nursing career as a registered nurse working in emergency care units helping to manage the care of those with minor conditions to severe illnesses and injury. Throughout her career she witnessed the devastating effect of chronic health conditions. She believes that the key to maintaining health and achieving wellness goals is to support the body’s natural ability to heal by focusing on nutrients and activity.

Her interest in holistic health began during her nursing education, which incorporated complementary alternative medicine (CAM) courses. She has utilised CAM during her career by helping patients reduce anxiety and pain through practices such as meditation and relaxation techniques.

She has continued her own pursuit of holistic health after witnessing the adverse effects of polypharmacy and how lifestyle factors impact health. Karen believes that true change can only take place after sufficient learning and enjoys sharing knowledge to aid others in achieving their goals.

Karen has worked on outlines for Animal Healing in Module 2 as well as ABC’s of Clinical Herbalism in Module 3.
